Blue Velvet: the jumpsuit

the jumpsuit

The 70s are back in full force, bringing with them one of their biggest trends, the jumpsuit. Bright colours, patterns, monochromatic, tight or loose, the possibilities are endless. And the bigger the flare, the bigger the smile on Elvis's face. Creepy or not, it's true.

From Prabal Gurung to Diane Von Furstenberg, BCBG et all, 2013 S/S is such a brilliant reminiscing of those 70′s in the best way possible. The aforementioned gurus of style and fashion have taken this working class uniform/once kitsch stage costume and did a 180 on it, luring us with long sleek silhouettes and silky fabrics.

I embraced the trend in a vintage jumpsuit that I discovered after raiding my mom's closet. Bare back and spandex, it has what it takes to hold an entire outfit together by itself, so nothing else was needed.

Here's a mixture of my favorite jumpsuits going around the web. I'd probably go for a total black jumpsuit, since it's much easier to combine with anything. There are those few printed ones that are too good to resist (see: anything Paul & Joe or M Missoni).

Lots of love,
