Blue Velvet: anything but the dress

anything but the dress

Top, Zara (similar) || Skirt, Zara (similar) || Boots, Zara || Sunglasses, Ray-Ban

What to wear when you want to skip the dress.

I swear I didn't mean to dress like a moving Zara ad, but the combination of a tiny lace skirt and a cropped almost seethrough sparkly cropped top felt like mandatory. I even bought these two pieces together, looking to prove to myself that they can turn out looking better than a one-piece formal outfit.

Tip: An outfit like this is the perfect alternative to the usual dress everyone is bound to wear on Christmas/ New Years eve. Those are the days when sequin becomes second skin, and there's an unsaid dress code for tight mini dresses. If you're looking to break the rules and go against all this fuss, but still want to look day-appropriate, a two-piece anything would be ideal. In my occassion, cropped and lace are both hawt this season, so this outfit screams a major 'yes' to any devoted fashionista. If you're looking to go even simpler on your two-piece outfit, a pair of wide leg pants with a backless top or a suit- in crisp white please! - would also make the cut.
