Blue Velvet: The List: May's Top 10

The List: May's Top 10

the list part 1

In this latest installation on Blue Velvet, we are going to feature 'what we're lusting over this month', that will include - but is not limited to, colours to wear, icons to follow, beauty products to use, exhibitions to see and places to visit. Volume I, May 2014, is on.

A limited edition collection which features 6 summer shades that give long-lasting, intense colour without smudging the makeup. Trust me I know - I usually end up cleansing my eyes a second time to completely remove the eyeshadow! The very practical packaging comes with a shadow sharpener applied on the back.

#2: AVEDON EXHIBITION, Gagosian Gallery, Athens
MAY 20 - JULY 25, 2014
Gagosian Athens presents photographs by Richard Avedon, following the career-spanning exhibition "Avedon: Women" that was first presented at Gagosian Beverly Hills in late 2013. The exhibition features portraits, along with fashion images shot by the photographer during the years he worked with Vogue.

I've been starting to see the swells with a whole different eye.

The Birkenstock-like shoes that everyone loves to hate - I have not yet decided whether I love them or hate them myself, but I know they are a must-have for the summer, so I could not not include them in this list. The Celine ones are pure lust after all.

the list 2

Daughter Dolphin is a new online shop enamoured with good quality shirts that are sold exclusively online. Their first collection, Le Bonheur, features classic prints that focus on the mantra 'quality over quantity', and happen to be drop-dead-beautiful. My personal pick is by far the organza shirt, which is also shown above.

Apivita has introduced a series of seminars and workshops that include a variety of topics, taught by people trained in the field. The program for May has already wrapped up discussions on beauty, health, well-being, aromatherapy etc, like 'All about Detox', where you learn to make your own green smoothie. June has already lined up a series of interesting seminars, such as "Green Talks", "De-stress your life" and "Fashion Suncare" to name only a few. The attendance on most of them is free and you need to book in advance.
All seminars are held in the Apivita Experience Store, Solonos 6 & Kanari, Kolonaki, Athens.

An online shop with the most unique of names that sells from name necklaces to monogram and infinity ones. My personal favorite is the infinity necklace, which also comes engraved with any word you like. I picked the word 'eternal', thought it'd make a good match with the design.

A new online shop that focuses on selling and buying your pre-owned luxury items. They have managed to stand out of the crowd with their original policy, which authenticates each item prior to shipping it to its new owner. This way, the risk of purchasing a counterfeit or a mis-priced item is reduced to the minimum.

A crisp, neutral wash gives a versatile appeal to a pair of slouchy jeans that can be worn 24/7. Frame is the on the forefront of good quality jeans, that will not leave you penniless in order to acquire one of their pieces.

For the transition from Spring to Summer, there is nothing better than the duster coat. A term that I only recently discovered, the difference between a trench coat and a duster coat (they are practically the same thing right?!) is that the latter does not have any decorative items and usually features flap over the closure, to protect against the rain. I got mine from the latest H&M Conscious collection, but there is also a variety of this kind of coats on Asos
